In spite of the flash flood warning here at YMCA Camp Timbers, we had so much fun this weekend with Valley Lutheran High School’s Senior Class Retreat! We were still able to run our teams course, high ropes course and climbing tower, so long as we had a fire going nearby to stay warm. But we voted against playing on our professional 9-hole Disc Golf course this weekend, and opted for some fun rainy day games! Continue reading for some fun groups games for a rainy day…

Not every camper makes it to the top of the climbing tower, or makes it through the elusive swing set on the high ropes course, or crosses the mighty Piper Lake on our Eagle’s Flight Zipline. Heights like that can be very scary! Here at YCT we challenge by choice, we encourage our campers to give it a try, but they only go as far as they can challenge themselves.
Construction began today for the Eagle’s Flight Zipline! The Zipline will start 17 feet above the upper ball field (near the sled tube), reach across the lower ball and the lake by the beaver dam, ending by the old archery range near the nature center. Expected to be over 1000 feet long when completed, as far as Matt Miller, founder of Universal Ropes, knows it will be the longest in Michigan.

Support for this project camp from former camper and staff member Mike Houlihan, who reached out to his CMU community and raised half the money for the project! Thanks to Mike and all who contributed to making YCT a better place for future campers!
